Hello!
I write Nomad at Fifty! I am Darren Cronian. In 2015, I quit my job and employer of 24 years to work remotely while traveling around the world.
Ten years later, I am moving to Kuala Lumpur on the De Rantau Digital Nomad visa, allowing me to live here for two years.
It took me two years to clear debt and save money by working as a freelancer in the evenings and weekends while working in my 9-to-5 job. Over the last 10 years, I have lived in over 60 cities, including Tokyo, Busan, Bangkok, Singapore, Helsinki, Prague, Tirana, and Barcelona.
Slow travel is my preferred way to see the world. I spend 30-90 days in a country before moving on.
Throughout the last 10 years, I have worked remotely continuously, mainly for US companies in various Quality Assurance roles.
When I am not working remotely as a Lead Quality Assurance Specialist, I help people secure remote jobs with my Remote Hive coaching business. I also have an Instagram and YouTube channel where I share my life.
I love sharing my experiences, especially with those in their 40s or 50s thinking about becoming digital nomads.
I was 41 when I escaped the office, and now that I am 52, it’s time for me to share how to become a digital nomad in your 50s.
